I've been taking a lot of walks lately ( it's fall foliage peak here in Vermont and perfect weather)
I take a lot of pictures, anything that catches my eye and have been liking trees with those open holes.
Using the photo for inspiration, I started laying out fabrics
Adding some background trees
And quilting
I may try putting some leaves on the ground or even doing a series of these - different seasons, different creatures in the hole - so many possibilities.
What would you do next?
I just have to share some photos from last week, it's so pretty here right now.
This tree is in my backyard
My favorite dog walking spot
I love it when the leaves crunch under my feet. I'm enjoying it as much as I can because I know that soon it will be snow and ice crunching under my feet.
Where do you get your inspiration?
Ooooh I love your photos, and omg the mouse! This is a terrific piece, and it would be wonderful to have on your wall.

Love your walk! Love the mouse!
ReplyDeleteLove seeing your process.....almost as much as the little rodent. :-)
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the time we were walking in the woods and a raccoon poked its head out of a hole in a tree. Every time I pass that tree now, I peek in. This is going to be a great piece!
ReplyDeleteI always take my camera with me when I walk -- you never know when you'll find inspiration. For me, it is often the positions of lines or shapes or the colors around me. Love the tree piece!
ReplyDeleteWow, love the tree quilt (I adore trees with hollows in them, and the more lichen they have on them, the better!). And what a fantastic place you have to walk your dog! We're further south, so our fall color has barely started. Looking forward to seeing trees like that gorgeous sugar maple (?) you have in your yard.
